An ancient bay
İstinye's name comes from the ancient "Leosthenion". In the Middle Ages it became "Sosthenion" and over time took its present form. In Byzantine times the bay was home to a church and monastery dedicated to St Michael, the "Michaelion".
The Bosphorus business neighbourhood
İstinye lies between Emirgan and Yeniköy on one of the most sheltered bays of the Bosphorus. Borsa Istanbul, the Istanbul stock exchange, has had its headquarters here since 1995. Close to the Maslak business district and shopping centres, it is a first choice for people who want to live near work.
